I taste you in
sun on my shoulders,
fingertips on kneecaps.
I apologize for
dripping sweat
on the tablecloth,
grit under fingernails
falling on hot laundry.
I can't feel you
through the calluses on my hands
pushing splinters
behind your ears,
the sweetest thing to ever
touch this mouth.
Settling into sunburn.
